Black & White are Always Trending

Basic colors ~ Black and white are awlays trending. It is definitely androgynous but yet oh so sexy and feminine.

Monochrome black and white never fails, is great for any day of the week. Whether you are suiting up for the office or for a casual outing you can create multiple looks with this color combo. You could choose to wear your monochrome look in a print, or to colour-block; the options are endless.

I don’t often mix prints enough, but I like the contrasting top and the rose embossed skirt combi. I think I have managed to pull it together rather tastefully. What are your thoughts?

White-On-White

Be bold don’t be afraid to experiment with white-on-white. All-white is not only for themed parties and weddings, you can get away with the look at any type of event or even for work. Here’s a few pointers to take note of when putting together an all-white outfit. The crucial element in putting together an all-white ensemble is to clearly separate each piece of the one-color look by wearing different shades of white i.e. Ivory, light beige, cream, off-white etc. Alternatively is to pair with different textures. Wearing all-white gives an opportunity to show off your accessories too!

White will always create a clean, modern, fresh feel. In addition, an all-white ensemble – done right – will always make a powerful style statement. The question is: are you ready to speak?

I have opted for a white cut-out shoulder blouse, a off white satin printed pleated skirt and a pair of statement kitty heels.

Angelina Café Singapore

Bonjour! Bienvenue chez Angelina Café!

ShenWendys_AC_Menu

The much anticipated Angelina Café opened its door in Singapore on Friday 29 May 2015. Fortunately for me when we went there on Tuesday 02 June 2015 for dinner we weren’t greeted with massive long queue (which we heard from the staff due to the long weekend they had super long queues and the patrons were all disgruntled from waitin) and the lady in charge was able to let us pick a table we like for the night.

We wanted to order a bottle of champagne but were informed that they are still waiting for their liquor licence and thus in the interim no alcohol can be sold. To maintain the freshness and the quality of their pastries only a selection of pastries are made with limited quantities during the soft launch.

It was hard to decide what to have for dinner as everything on the menu sound so tantalizing, after much deliberations we decided on…

Pan Fried Scallops ~ Black venere rice, shellfish cream SGD 29.00

Penne, Spicy Tomatoo Concasse ~ roasted vine-cherry tomato, goat's cheese SGD 22.00

For me a meal is never complete without dessert….

I like the overall ambience – makes you feel you have transported to a Parisian Cafe in the heart of Paris. The service staff are extremely friendly and attentive.

7 Must-Have Shoes

Women can never have too many shoes and men will never understand why. – Susan Gale

I have to confess I am a shoe addict, I would love to have a walk-in shoe closet like Carrie Bradshaw a la Sex and the City. But of course this is real life and I’m no Carrie Bradshaw (don’t have the budget nor closet space for that matter). Irregardless, I believe all of the shoes we own serve a unique purpose – more than just walking around.

In my opinion every woman should have these 7 basic styles of shoes in their closet.

Pump Wedges

Stiletto Pumps

ShenWendys_BlackHeels_Sparkles

A basic pump in leather is one of the most versatile shoes any woman can own – they will never let you down. They are the LBD of the shoe world. They go with everything under the sun, taking you from work to play. I would recommend investing in two pairs, one in wedges and the other stilhettos to lengthen your legs and make you feel like a Greek goddess.

Ballet Flats

ShenWendys_BalletFlats

I love heels but I love my feet more, foot doctors have advised not to wear heels daily as they are bad for health. Thus occasionally I will choose to let my feet rest and don on a pair of ballet flats. There is an endless array of choices on style, materials and colours. Ballet flats are so comfy they make you feel like walking on clouds. A good pair of ballet flats will give your everyday dresses and jeans a chic Parisian flair.

Platform Wedges

ShenWendys_Wedges

Ideal for our hot climate, wedges are a more reasonable and comfortable alternative to stilettos. A pair can be great with skinny pants, jeans or a sun dress.
The Ladylike Shoes – Kitten Heels

ShenWendys_Blue_KittenHeels

Every woman encounters a situation where she needs the foolproof ladylike shoe. The height these shoes provide is perfect for those days when you know and want to look feminine, yet have tired feet from wearing sky-high heels all week.

The Party Shoes

ShenWendys_GreyDiamanteKittenHeels

Whether you hit the party scene in five-inch platform pumps or diamante sequin high heels, the party shoe is a must have. Every woman needs that special pair of heels for a night out.

Strappy Heels

ShenWendys_PinkStrappyHeels

Slim, strappy high heels are a timeless shoe that will add sophistication to your going out dress plus show off your perfectly pedicured nails.

Artwork Heels

ShenWendys_PeepToe

When the dress lazy and just want to wear a dress that is simple, thats the exact moment in which to choose a shoe with a touch of difference. No need to be excessive, choose the right wood carving or a contrasting color.

ShenWendys Eclectic Guide :: Playing with Scarves

ShenWendys

Ever wondered what you can do with an ordinary scarf? I love to wear scarves! There are numerous creative and fashionable ways for you to use scarves to add punch and color to your everyday look.

You can buy scarves anywhere…Takashimaya, Isetan, Accesorize, Robinsons, flea markets, or you can even raid your Mom or Grandmother’s closets (as you have for vintage handbags and jewelry). There’s no need to break the bank to add a little pizzaz to what you are wearing. You can spend anywhere from $5 upwards to say $500 or more.

Now, how in the world do you use scarves really?

You can wear it as a top paired with a black pencil skirt or a beige flair skirt

It can even be a mini-tote bag to bring out

Another favorite of mine is by tying a scarf around my handbag! You can either tie a simple bow or wrapped round one of the handles!

Transform it into a Kimono for your daughter’s school functions such as “International Friendship Day” or “Racial Harmony” where they are encouraged to where a traditional costume from another country.

Other ways to add scarves to your look, is to wrap them around your head. I’m not a fan of this look, so have chosen not to add a visual to this post. Don’t get “tied” down by any one tie or look…find the one you like most, or a couple that works best for you.

Spring Florals :: Skater Dress

Happy Birthday Lovelies! Today is the 7th day of the first month of the Lunar New Year known as “Ren Ri” which literally means “Human Day” ~ everyone’s birthday. The Chinese legend has it, the Goddess Nüwa created the world. She created animals on different days and human beings on the seventh day.

One of the traditions is that on this day, we have to eat a dish made out of 7 types of vegetables (Xiao Baicai, Nai bai, Leek, Fu kwai chai, Kow peck chye, Yau mak chye, Kai lan). It is believe eating this dish brings good luck, makes you look younger & prettier too!

This is one tradition I will dutifully follow every year!
